He spent countless hours writing his vows. They had to be perfect – like his dear Faramir.

Every spare moment during the six months of their engagement, one could find Haldir off in a corner; quill, ink and parchment in front of him, writing furiously.

Finally, winter solstice was upon them. He had memorized page after page of words that spoke of love, fidelity, happiness, completion… all the things he felt when Faramir was near.

As Faramir stood before him, however, eyes sparkling, Haldir forgot every line he’d so painstakingly composed.

“Faramir…”

All of Lórien waited.

Then Haldir remembered.

“I promise you… everything.”
