I must have come across this earlier, but either it wasn´t the right time or I wasn´t in the right state. However, I´m so glad this fic has returned from the grave (so to say)! As dark and sad the atmosphere is as touching is the story, and even though it´s set so long after the war the characters are perfectly captured. Especially Eowyn´s short appearance made me very happy; the way the book eventually turns her into a good housewife who is not interested in fighting anymore never satisfied me and I was delighted by how you depicted her as a person who is perceived as both a loving mother and a warrior at the same time.

And then the story itself… first I had a kind of “Pet Cemetary” feeling, and then, instead of horror and demise, it turns to warmth and tender care. I like how the plot is built from many little flashbacks up to the cream topping at the very end, when the kids enter the bedroom and found their father and uncle sharing a bed as if it was the most normal thing ever. This was also the point when I realized that the whole family constellation is like a mirror of how it was one generation ago; two brothers whose mother died too early and a father highly concerned with his duty and the pressure of history. Just in this case we have a fourth person, also laden with the burden of previous happenings, not to mention the fact that Faramir´s character and temper is very different from his Denethor´s – which gives him more and other possibilities to deal with the situation.

I also appreciate the way you described the subliminal fears they´re surrounded by – it´s not nice, but it´s a very realistic picture of what the reaction of their fellow people would be – be it regarding the “evil magic” or the unusual quality of their relationship. And the slight vagueness: yes, it might have been a mistake to bring Boromir back – or maybe not (for we never know for sure whether he was really dead or not). Yes, there might have been a price to pay for his return – or perhaps not, because we have no evidence Eowyn´s death had anything to do with it. It is as it is in real life: Not all your questions are answered and not all your issues are solved. All you can do is keep it going and be grateful for the few perfect moments.

Dear Juxian, it´s been long ago that you wrote that fic and I don´t know if you´re still around. But in case you are I´d like to say thank you. For a story of such richness and depth it will certainly follow me around for some days. :)

This story is very powerful. Thank You. I thought long about “it” and I can’t imagine what “it” is.
Child’s point of wiev. You are mastered it, bravo! Love between Faramir and Boromir is… I felt sad. And happy. They had each other and the kids. Thanks again and huggs from Poland.

What’s so fascinating about this story is we get to see Faramir/Boromir from another point of view, and a point of view that doesn’t quite understand the (adult) implications of everything that’s going on. Overall, the story is a great character piece. Thanks for writing this, it was very enjoyable to read!

Amazing story! I must admit I didn’t understand the meaning of it fully, but it was wonderful and oh-so-desperate.
I wish I would see more of this.
Thank you!
