The Small Hours

Iris, thank you so much for your lovely words, and believe me when I say I know exactly what you mean about RL’s bad habit of getting in the way of things :P
Like I said in reply to Mira I liked the idea of doing a very vague sort of ‘bait-and-switch’ at the start of the story, I tried to leave it sort of vague as to which character’s perspective we’re following right at the start, and I believe I didn’t really change much bout the wording of the opening paragraphs when I made the decision to change it from Faramir to Aragorn’s POV. I dunno, I guess it’s my thing for a more confident/strong/etc!Faramir coming together with the fact that writing Aragorn as showing weakness is really interesting for me to explore :) I’m also glad the quiet atmosphere came across, as if this is something that happens on many nights, and there are deep feelings there, but I wanted it to stay easy and understated as you say :)(One day I may be brave enough to write something that doesn’t have a happy ending but I’m not sure I have it in me :P) Anyway, enough of my rambling, thank you so much again!! :)

The Small Hours

I’ve been meaning to comment on this for, well, it says it’s been up for 16 days, so I guess for 16 days. RL has a way of constantly interfering my fanfic habit…
This story —as all your work— is absolutely lovely. Like Mira, I love how Faramir is the strong one; after all, Aragorn has spent most of his time out in the wilderness and is now suddenly in the ultimate position of responsibility — that can’t be easy. Also the quiet, understated atmosphere of the fic is just perfect, and very fitting to the midnight setting.
Thanks a lot for sharing, and keep up the good work!

The Small Hours

Trixie: Aah, I know how you feel! :P Thank you so much!

Mira: :)I’m glad it worked for you, I think my original idea somewhere in the mists of time was to have Faramir come to Aragorn in the night, but then I thought it would be much more interesting to have the opposite happen instead! Thank you!
