Rainfall

Geale: Ah! I thought I felt some sort of subconsciously telepathic story idea flit through my mind when I began to write this, and now I know it must’ve been yours! ;) Not that I’m complaining, (save too for the lack of wet rangers in my bed,) writing this was a delight!
I didn’t originally set out to be so mysterious as to the setting of the tale in both place and backstory, I wanted them to be in the wilds so to speak, but not too far from a civilised bed, but I think I wanted the strangeness of their building romance to be the main focus and not so much the detail of location or time; is it six months since Aragorn became King? A year? Five? If it’s so soon after they came into each other’s acquaintance then it’s a wonderful testament to their fast-flowing friendship that they could become so comfortable together after so short a time. I do confess a particular warming to the notion of their closeness lasting years with nothing ‘untoward’ going on, but that’s just me (and whether that’s realistic or not I’m not sure; how could they possibly last so long without a slip of the hand!) Anyway, (and despite liking to leave the unanswered questions to the reader to decide upon) it’s my private notion that they’ve been finding themselves thus on many an outing for quite some time as you say, and I think it’s merely Aragorn’s need to ensure this continues that wrangles the declaration from him :P
Oh, those two! Bedraggled no less! It’s been bitterly cold here lately so I think I may need to write some sort of warming-up-by-a-roaring-hearth-with-maybe-a-fur-rug-to-lie-upon-type tale soon! A tasteful one of course ;D Thank you so much as ever for your wonderfully flattering words! :)

Minx: Thank you so much, I’m so glad you enjoyed it! And I agree, the very best of men :D

Raven: Oh my, you flatter me and my writing far too much! Honestly I don’t think I’m anywhere near the level of bettering someone’s day but that is one of the loveliest things anyone’s ever said to me so I thank you so much, and I’m so glad that my story was well received, even though it honestly was a little bit of silliness that my brain demanded be put into words :)
I do have a great fondness for the ‘ranger’ aspect of both men, how their histories are quite similar in that regard, and I like to think that Aragorn sees this as a way to enter into a deeper friendship with Faramir, and vice versa. And yes, the idea that they take themselves off on excursions into the wilds, disappearing for a day or two, is one that I like very, very much. I also admit a certain liking for their boundary-pushing friendship…that they are as close as lovers almost but yet aren’t quite there yet, though I think they would both need to be deaf and blind to think that they weren’t heading in that direction ;) Thank you so, so much again for your extremely kind and honouring words, you brightened my day with them most definitely! :)

Rainfall

The scenery is just lovely and it needed not more than the first few sentences to drag me right into it. Their little bickering, a few snippets of mild irony changed en passant, so to say, expresses their very relaxed sort of relationship. When I read the first phrases I was convinced they were lovers already. But as Geale mentioned; the immensely intriguing aspect is that one by one they have become so close they even share a double bed and a textile-free embrace and still consider it a totally average friendship. :)

Also intriguing: Aragorn (respectively both) taking a time off now and then to roam the country for his (their) own purposes. I have reason to think you have a certain fondness for that subject ;) and I could see a lot of potential in it.

I do not know whether it is of any help but let me tell you that meanwhile reading your name in the header of a new entry makes me wish to wag an imaginary tail and bark with happy anticipation. And for the rest of the day the world looks like a better and brighter place. Seriously. :)

Rainfall

I did! I’m quite sure I did request this :) Also, it’s raining heavily over here as well so this one suited the mood of the day perfectly. (Although, I have to say, there is a severe lack of wet rangers in my bed. Always a let down.)

Ah, this one pushed me right into that addictive land of sweet love that hurts just a little, but enough to make you want to put everything right – even though nothing can be done at the moment. Because everything is as it should be.

I loved the first paragraphs because they didn’t much establish anything :) I was quite certain they were in Minas Tirith, and then they weren’t, but they seemed so comfortable with one another – as though they’d already made love a hundred times – but then… they hadn’t. Which is a twist that I adore. And realise was the very foundation of the story – that would bring about the dancing-around-the-topic and that insecure declaration of love on Aragorn’s part. But I didn’t expect it and was thus very pleasantly surprised. And, good heavens, did I love the idea of them gradually stretching their boundaries so that one day finding yourself almost naked in bed with your King, and having him plant kisses all over you (sort of), seems like a most natural progression and not at all frightening, or even unseemly.

And yet they are perfectly aware of what they are doing. But it’s the inevitability of things that doesn’t stop them. Indeed, the way I figure, they can’t be stopped. (Nor should they be, but that’s my own personal opinion ;)) In a way it feels like a ‘one step forward, two steps back’ story, since I get the feeling that this has been going on for quite some time, but it’s only now that they are starting to acknowledge the truth.

Oh, and Faramir’s declaration of love at the very end: “…though was never brave enough to picture himself by your side.” My darling boys… :)

Thank you for sharing! And for the (haha) ”somewhat tasteful” sexual scenes ;)
